  • 1 paper plate
  • Construction paper (white, red, blue, yellow, green, brown)
  • Brown paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue stick or craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Black marker
  • Gingerbread house template (printable)
  • Pencil (for tracing)

Step-by-Step Gingerbread House Paper Plate Instructions

Follow these simple steps to create your gingerbread house craft:

Step 1: Cut and Paint the Paper Plate

  • Cut the top part off your paper plate as in the picture above.
  • Paint the entire plate with brown paint to create the gingerbread color
  • Allow to dry completely

Step 2: Create the Frosted Roof

  • Cut the roof template and trace it onto white construction paper

  • Glue the bottom snowy border to your plate. (Important don't glue the top edge as we will slip the door, tree and candy cane under this piece)

Step 4: Add the Chimney

  • Cut a rectangle from red construction paper
  • Cut wavy frosting details from white paper and attach to the top of the chimney

  • Glue the chimney to the left side of the house

Step 5: Cut and Trace Additional Templates

  • Cut the remaining templates: Christmas tree parts and candy cane
  • Draw an cut a red door, a wavy edged white base for the door, dark blue squares for the windows, light blue window squares, some dark blue strips to separate the windows, a green wreath, some red strips to wrap around the wreath and the candy cane, a small yellow circle for the door knob and a smaller candy cane piece from white paper.

Step 6: Assemble the Details

  • Assemble the door (red with white frame and yellow doorknob)
  • Create the Christmas tree from green paper

Step 7: Attach All Decorations

  • Attach the two windows on either side of the upper house area
  • Add the candy cane on the left side
  • Place the Christmas tree on the right side
  • Attach the wreath at the top
