How to Make Your Reindeer Dish Towels
This craft takes about 30 minutes and creates the perfect handmade Christmas gift for friends and family.
Step 1: Prepare Your Dish Towels
- Wash the dish towels before applying vinyl for best results
- Allow towels to dry completely before starting your project
Step 2: Set Up Your Design

- Open the reindeer SVG file in your Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio software
- Resize the design to roughly the size of your dish towel, ours was about 6 inches wide when folded.
- Isolate just the antlers and ears from your design – Cut these pieces from the brown vinyl (remember to have the vinyl shiny side down on your mat).
- Isolate just the eyelashes from your design – Cut these from black HTV (shiny side down on mat).
- Repeat the cutting process with red HTV for the nose
- Weed (remove the excess vinyl) from your pieces.
Step 3: Trim Excess Vinyl
- Use scissors to cut away excess plastic backing around each vinyl piece
- This makes it easier to position the pieces accurately on your towel
- Keep only the parts you'll be applying to the dish towel
Step 4: Prepare Your Heat Press

- Preheat your Cricut EasyPress or heat press to 310°F
- Place your tea towel on your heat press mat.
- Preheat the dish towel by placing the heat press on it for 10-15 seconds (This removes moisture and wrinkles for better vinyl adhesion)

- Arrange the brown antlers, ears, black eyelashes, and red nose on your towel
- Cover the design with parchment paper to protect both the vinyl and your heat press
- Press firmly for 30-40 seconds with consistent pressure
Step 5: Final Steps

- Allow the towel to cool completely before handling
- Carefully peel away the plastic backing from each vinyl piece
- If any edges lift, press again with heat for a few more seconds
